Why I Serve
When I first said ‘yes’ to becoming a Con-solatio missionary in 2019, I was convicted that, in the words of St. Teresa of Calcutta:
“The greatest disease in the West today… is being unwanted, unloved, and uncared for.”
I believed in Con-solatio’s ministry of presence rooted in God’s merciful love as a balm for this poverty of loneliness, and I have been so blessed to receive the face of Christ in each person He has put on my path.
Since returning from mission in India, I enjoyed living in New York City where I worked in non-profit development and event management. At the same time, I continued living our mission on the streets of Manhattan, alongside other young professionals navigating life in and out of cubicles. After four years, I am even more convinced of the pressing need for presence, through prayer, community, and compassion, in the midst of an ever more frenetic and distracted world.
About Me
As Assistant Director of Development, I am fully dedicated to fostering the growth of our organization through stewarding the financial gifts of our Mission Partners. I work so that those who may not be in a position to serve on mission may participate by putting their resources at the service of both our missionaries and the poor in the neighborhoods where they serve.I recently moved from New York, NY, to Houston, TX, to serve our Mission Partners and Alumni in a new way! You can often find me perusing a cookbook, going two-stepping and line dancing, or rearranging furniture to make room for my latest thrifty find.
Your Impact
When I answered the call to join Con-solatio as a full-time staff member, I made the decision to depend on the spiritual and financial support of mission partners to help make this mission possible.
If you are interested in participating in my mission, please let me know and I would be happy to schedule a call. You can also sign up to be my mission partner below by clicking below and selecting ‘Andrea Lauren Tong’ as the missionary you would like to support. I would be humbled and honored to share my mission with you!
