Hola! My name is Isabella and I am from Managua, Nicaragua. I will graduate from the University of Notre Dame in May 2023 with a degree in Psychology. Throughout my college career, I thought that I would dive straight into the corporate world in New York City after graduation. However, deep questioning unsettled my heart and made me reevaluate what I ultimately yearn for in life. I realized that I might be called to a career in Clinical Psychology, but I also realized that I was disconnected from one of the pillars that shape my identity: service.
After reading a personal portrait of Mother Theresa, “To Love and Be Loved”, by Jim Towey, it was revealed to me that I am called on a mission to help the Poor in Spirit. I want to be able to recognize human dignity in every person and to love freely. In the 14 months I’ll be in Brazil, I hope to strengthen my faith not only through contemplation, prayer, and adoration but also through life in community, completely dedicated to serving others.
Though this mission is truly my Heart’s Desire, I am not able to do it without you! I will be forever grateful for your support in this life-changing opportunity!
