Hello, my name is Jaime. I’m currently an Electrical Engineer in the great city of Houston Texas. I was born in Mexico, but I have been living in the United States since 2010. My desire for going on mission comes as a result of two other desires that I have had from my youth, the desire to be a superhero and the desire to serve God. As I grew older and as I learned about my faith, and that superheroes from the movies don’t really exist, I started seeing missionaries as the Christian version of real superheroes. They sacrifice themselves for the good of another, they are not afraid to be different, and they stand for justice and truth.
In the summer of 2017, I did a one-month mission with Christ in the City in Denver Colorado. There I learned about the beauty of the ministry of presence, the beauty of just being there for the other person, maybe not with much materially, but with the joy and love that God brings into the lives of those who trust in him. After that mission, my desire for service grew stronger. I found Con-solatio through the Catholic Volunteer Network, and after doing a come-and-see weekend with them, I knew from their joy and love that this was the group I had to do mission with.
I will be serving in Uruguay for 18 months. I am excited to see how God acts through us missionaries and builds his kingdom over there, but this is only possible through your generous support. I would like to invite you to consider joining us missionaries in this adventure, whether financially or through prayer. Please know that you are also in our prayers, and may you find in God the love and peace that he wants for all of us.
