Hello! My name is Joseph and I’m from New York. I was born and raised in Queens with my family. About one year ago, I moved to Long Island and started working at a hotel on the North Shore. I am excited to share with you that I will be dedicating 15 months on mission in Argentina. It took a long time to come to this decision, yet I know that this decision was actually not an unexpected one.
After I graduated high school, I felt a strong calling to serve Our Lord as a priest, I was in priestly formation for nearly 4 years, until I discerned that I was not being called to serve God in this way. Having left the seminary and just moved to a new town, I felt quite unsure where I was supposed to go next. I was faced with so many different possibilities, but among them all, I knew interiorly that what I wanted most was to serve God in the most generous way I could. I knew I wanted to make a serious impact on people and not just settle on being a “good person”.
I knew about Con-solatio and had the idea of volunteering in the back of my mind. After I graduated college, I started thinking about mission more seriously. By Divine Providence, a friend of mine invited me to one of the Con-solatio events. A month later I went to the Come and See Weekend, and after prayer and discernment decided to commit 15 months on mission. I have been blessed to be sent to the beautiful country of Argentina, where I will serve Jesus among His beloved souls there. It is a daunting undertaking, but I believe it is a very important one. This mission is not for me alone, however. I thank everyone who has already helped me along the way, and to those who will in the future.
