My name is Liam and welcome to my bio. I am on the verge of embarking upon a very exciting adventure with Con-solatio. Though coming from a family of thirteen children I’m no stranger to excitement; it’s just usually in the form of organizing elaborate convoys whenever we all try to go somewhere at once.
When the convoy returns home, I enjoy spending time reading, and religiously watching The Office. I primarily read books related to theology, philosophy, and just about any kind of fiction; a few of my favorite series include: The Lord of the Rings, Redwall, and Narnia. My more hands-on interests include running, blacksmithing, and large scale games of ultimate frisbee with my siblings.
I am the fifth in the group comprised of five boys and eight girls (I beg you, please don’t ask me their names). I grew up in Zimmerman, Minnesota, which is about an hour north of Minneapolis. Over the last few years we’ve tried our hand at raising a variety of animals including, but not limited to: chickens, goats, pigs, cows, and alpacas.
I graduated high school in the spring of 2021 with an eye toward post-secondary education. What I didn’t anticipate was that God had a different plan for me. After caring for and befriending the residents of the retirement community at which I was employed, I came to recognize in myself a deepening passion for the lonely and abandoned among us. Over the course of several months and continued prayerful discernment, I felt more and more firmly the desire to live and work with the poor as a full time volunteer.
I found Con-solatio’s mission to be a natural fit and apt expression of the desire that had been and continues to be on my heart. Con-solatio’s dual emphasis on service through presence and growth in one’s relationship with Christ found resonance within me; it highlights the reality that any mission worth undertaking must be underwritten by a robust spiritual life. They believe in the power of prayer and so do I. It’s for this reason that I eagerly request that you, dear reader, pause for just a moment now to ask the Lord on my behalf for the grace to persevere in His will for my life. Thank you.
