Lorenza V. – from Mexico to Peru

Hello! My name is Lorenza V., and I was born and raised in Mexico. I just graduated from the University of Notre Dame with a degree in Psychology and minors in Theology and Poverty Studies.

Before coming to Notre Dame, I did not know God personally. I was baptized and received my first communion when I was younger, but only in the summer after my first year did I come to know the person of Jesus Christ. I saw Him in the immigrants and refugees I lived with at the Houston Catholic Worker daily. They showed me what it looks like to suffer and love like Him. When I returned to school, I joined RCIA and received the sacrament of confirmation in April 2022. I knew, especially after that experience and my entire time abroad in Chile junior year, that I wanted to spend at least a year serving the most vulnerable in an intentional, prayerful community after graduating.

As I searched for post-grad service opportunities, God led me to Con-solatio, which instantly resonated with the deepest longings of my heart. I said yes to the mission in Peru. I pray I can grow in love and holiness during this time and share that same love with others.

I embark on this with hopes and uncertainties, and I know I cannot do this without your help. I invite you to join me financially, spiritually, or both on this mission. I pray that the Lord blesses and keeps you, and I will continue to pray for you throughout it all.
