Hi, my name is Mara and I’m from the small town of Eden, NY, home of the annual Corn Festival and birthplace of the Kazoo (obviously a pretty special place). I grew up with a wonderful family, with my mom, dad, two brothers, and two sisters. I’ve decided to follow Christ’s call back to the “school” of mission and learn to be an instrument of His love more deeply.
Con-solatio teaches me a new manner of living – one of loving intensely each person without counting the cost. I am constantly challenged to shed my own gaze on the people in front of me and enter into the gaze of Christ, the gaze of infinite mercy and compassion. I will be heading off to Dakar, Senegal to walk with those who suffer the most – the poor, the lonely, the abandoned, the ignored. My prayer is that through this radical leap to an unfamiliar side of the world, I will be introduced to corners of God’s heart that are unfamiliar to me and allow His love to fill the deepest corners of my own. Only then will I be a true instrument of His Presence to the lonely and suffering.
This mission is not for one alone, but for many. Will you join me on this journey to the slums? I need (a lot of) financial support and (a lot of) prayers! Please consider sponsoring my mission in one or both ways and know that I hold you in prayer in my grateful heart. May God bless you a hundred fold!
