Sarah M. – on mission in Ecuador

Hello! My name is Sarah M! I grew up in the hill country of Texas and graduated from Texas A&M in 2022. After graduating I moved to Denver and have been working here for the past two years. Throughout this time, I felt a growing desire to go on mission, and I am very excited for the opportunity to serve 14 months in Ecuador.

During my final year of college, I realized how much I desired to both be seen and also to see others through the eyes of Christ. I felt drawn to seek those experiencing loneliness and to serve them in some capacity.

After my first year out of college I worked at two of the homeless shelters in Denver. This was a life-changing experience as the Lord invited me to see those who do not feel seen through His eyes, and to share His love with them. This past year, I had the opportunity to serve at a parish as a receptionist. My experience there stretched my heart in ways I did not expect. I have seen the power of ordinary family life and our call to bring Jesus into even the simplest parts of the day.

However, I feel that the Lord is calling me to live this life of service more abundantly through mission. I feel particularly drawn to Con-solatio because of its mission of friendship.  I am struck by the way Con-solatio missionaries both give of themselves and receive love from the other, allowing for real friendships to be formed. I am so grateful for the opportunity to go on mission with Con-solatio and to grow in this gift and offering of love.
