Greetings, friend! My name is Moriah, and I am from the beautiful rolling hills of rural Iowa. Having graduated high school as of May 2026, I am excited to be getting ready to go to Deva, Romania for 18 months!

Throughout my high school education, I focused especially on classical literature, from Homer and Aristotle all the way up through Shakespeare and Einstein. The soul, our place in existence, and our relation to God have always fascinated me. I’ve always thought that I would graduate high school and go straight to college, but as time has progressed, I’ve felt that God has been calling me in a different direction. To Con-solatio!

Victor Hugo, the author of Les Misérables, once said, “Life’s greatest happiness is to be convinced we are loved.” Christ himself gave us a taste of his perfect love for us in his total giving on the Cross. Our Holy Mother, in turn, reflected this love in her presence with our suffering Lord. That is what Con-solatio offers. We have no food or money or supplies to give, we simply have ourselves to give to others, to show others God’s love for them.
