Re-Entry Weekend: Love, Reignited

by Sarah, returning from mission in Ecuador and Peru

The graces of this re entry weekend can be summed up by one word: gratitude.

The transition home from mission to grad school was incredibly fast, but returning here to where the Lord first called me to mission with Con-solatio has encouraged me not to stop at the first glance when “evaluating” our international mission experiences. In true Con-solatio fashion, I know that I needed to look deeper, closer and be reminded of the great faithfulness and providence of our loving God. This is exactly what being “home” among the Brooklyn missionaries and other missionary alumni has offered me: a space to simply “be” and to remember the good work the Lord has done in my heart and the hearts of our friends from my mission countries. In having returned to New York to give thanks to God for the many blessings of my mission, my love for our simple mission has been reignited. I am leaving with a true sense of peace at (trying my best to) re-surrender my mission and my own heart to the Lord and continue living mission as the Spirit leads me to in my new everyday life.

I loved my re-entry weekend; to be able to connect with and share my experience with others who lived the same thing as I did, and to reflect on my time in El Salvador was very helpful and more needed than I realized. I have a newfound appreciation for my time on mission and am excited to keep moving forward with a global network of people who I know are there for me whenever I need to talk.
