Centered on Prayer and Providence
By Mary K., Franciscan University student
I have participated in mission work with Con-solatio twice! I stayed at the partner mission house in Romania for a week during my study abroad semester, and I did nursing home ministry for an afternoon with the missionaries at the Brooklyn house while I was on a mission trip. What I loved about doing mission with Con-solatio was how faith-based they make their mission! Seeing how they center everything they do around prayer and trust in the Lord and His providence was inspiring. Con-solatio truly strives to be the face of Christ to those in need. They are some of the most genuine, joy-filled people that I have served with!
In Romania, it was beautiful to begin the day in prayer together with the missionaries, and see the reach that these missionaries have: we were able to be present to the elderly, kids, and the poor in Romania. In Brooklyn, it was amazing to get to see the kind of relationship the missionaries have with the residents of the nursing home; knowing the names of residents, knowing their routines, and being so willing to talk to any resident that wanted to talk.
What struck me in serving with Con-solatio was the authentic love that each missionary has for their mission. I strive every day to be like the missionaries of Con-solatio: faithful and loving to everyone they encounter.
