Notre Dame Women Experience Con-solatio

Our Con-solatio community in Brooklyn recently welcomed five students from the University of Notre Dame into our home for several days to share in our lives and ministry. Brigid and Meredith share about their experience!

“These few days in the Con-solatio community taught me so much about how impactful the act of friendship and presence is in combating isolation and hopelessness, all in pursuit of seeking real joy. Whether it be singing with Becky or talking with Lucy, the work at Con-solatio really seems to let people know that they are seen and are worth being seen, a gift that I have truly come to realize the value of.” (Brigid)

“One of the experiences that most impacted me during my time here was my interaction with a woman at the homeless shelter. She had just lost a close friend of hers and yet she was very optimistic. She told another resident that she missed her friend and asked that we pray for this friend. She told me several times that life is full of ups and downs, but that she knew she would be alright. She stressed that getting up in the morning required strength, but that she wanted to live for as long as possible – the Creator gave us air to breathe, and for this, we should be grateful. I was very moved by her positive outlook and her faith, even amidst struggle.” (Meredith)
