Nourishing Hearts Hungry for Christ

By Mara, Con-solatio Missionary

While on an outreach trip, I had the chance to meet with college students, young adults, priests, sisters, and young families, and share about the beauty of Con-solatio’s mission, especially through my own experience of meeting Christ in His little ones in Ecuador. The chance to share the grace of mission with others is a reminder that this grace is not given just to me and other missionaries. It’s meant to be actively shared, to invite others into our mission, or to simply console and nourish hearts hungry for Christ. More than once, our testimony was met with wide eyes and the genuine exclamation: I want to come with you! I want to live what you’re living! It was striking to me that as I shared about our life on mission, one thing that moved people was the intensity of our prayer life, centered on the Eucharist and Marian devotion. The world moves painfully fast and is saturated with confusion; speaking about our mission of simple presence, the transforming power of authentic friendship, and faithful prayer highlighted again for me the need to slow down and fix my gaze on the people and the reality in front of me, for it is there that I encounter Christ who comes to meet me. Con-solatio invites me into this way of living and it was a joy to share it with others during this outreach trip.
